Taste East Devon: 3rd – 18th September 2022


This family-friendly food festival is set to return this September, making for a 16-day celebration like no other. East Devon’s award-winning venues, producers, chefs, and restaurants including Michael Caines MBE, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, THE PIG at Combe, and many more have joined forces to pay homage to the incredible food and drink on offer across the region. With a vast range of events including farm feasts, brewery open days, seafood tasting experiences and delicious BBQs, you’re sure to find some new foodie favourites here in East Devon.

Colour Bomb Summer Edition: 10th – 11th September 2022


Head to The Bear Trail in Cullompton this September for a weekend full of colour explosions. Challenge yourself to complete the 30 unique obstacles, with over 1000lbs of powder paint and unlimited mud to enjoy. During each session, Boston the Bear will be greeting the crowd, Joe Fisher will be heading up the mic and local superstar Katt Davies Young will be performing some of her greatest hits. But be warned – you WILL leave the event covered from head to toe in coloured powder paint!

International Agatha Christie Festival: 10th – 17th September 2022


Did you know that Agatha Christie, world famous author of over 60 detective novels, was born in Torquay? Each year, the town celebrates Christie’s life and legacy with a week of cultural talks, walks, films, workshops, performances, and an exciting fringe programme. One for all the book lovers and bibliophiles out there, you can listen to high-profile speakers, enjoy exciting exhibitions, watch performances of Christie’s plays and poetry, as well as taking part in plenty of other arts and literary activities.

Whiddon Autumn Festival: 15th – 18th September 2022


Head to the Whiddon Parishes of northern Dartmoor to witness some wonderful world-class music and exciting cultural events. Discover spectacular choral performances, chamber music, solo performances, education work and community participation events from an amazing line-up of young artists, including the Corvus Consort, Ferio Saxophone Quartet, pianist Harry Baker, composer Anna Semple and more. Local participants can join in with the Come & Sing workshop, with the opportunity to perform alongside some top professional artists.

Abbfest: 16th – 18th September 2022


The annual Abbfest is set to return this year, with an exciting programme that is guaranteed to be bigger and better than ever before. Enjoy live music, locally produced beer and cider, chef demonstrations, and a food and craft market at this wonderful weekend event in the heart of Newton Abbott. Choose from over 200 ales and 30 ciders all brewed in Devon, as well as a wine, pimms, and prosecco bar. Over 50 local food and beverage creators will be showcasing their products in the food and craft marquee – a true haven for Westcountry produce.

Foodies Festival: 16th – 18th September 2022


The biggest gourmet food and drink touring festival in the UK, nicknamed “Gastro-Glastonbury”, is coming to Escot Park in Exeter for the first time this September. Discover over 150 artisan food and drink producers, watch demonstrations from MasterChef and Bake Off stars, enjoy chart-topping music from Blue and Scouting for Girls, keep the kids entertained in the Kids Cookery School, and so much more. There is also a Cake & Bake Theatre, Drinks Theatre, Street Food Avenue, Feasting Tent, Cook Book Shop, and fairground.

Sidmouth & East Devon Walking Festival: 17th – 23rd September 2022


Situated within beautiful East Devon on the awe-inspiring Jurassic Coast, Sidmouth boasts some wonderful scenic walking roots. Head to Sidmouth for a fabulous week full of free guided walks and learn all about the history and heritage of this stunning area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB). There is a choice of 3 or 4 walks each day throughout the festival, ranging from short expert-led circular walks, long circular walks around the towns and countryside, linear walks along the East Devon Way, and linear walks along the South West Coast Path.

Chagford Film Festival: 26th September – 1st October 2022


Hailed as “the best small film festival in the world”, the unique and interesting Chagford Film Festival is set to return this September. The full programme is yet to be announced, but you can expect an amazing line-up of eclectic film screenings, special guests (including Oscar winners), panel discussions, fun competitions, exciting exhibitions, hands-on workshops, and outside events to suit all ages and tastes. The week will begin with an opening night gala and close with a spectacular street event.

Powderham Food Festival: 1st – 2nd October 2022


Set in the grounds of the picturesque Powderham Castle, this award-winning food festival will be celebrating its 11th anniversary this October. Experience delicious delicacies from some of the region’s top food and drink producers, as well as demonstrations, fun kid’s activities, and food-related competitions. The programme is yet to be announced, but you can expect chilli and hot dog eating competitions, local chef, college and supplier demonstrations, live music, face painting, goat walks, gross eating challenges and so much more.

Exmoor Dark Skies Festival: 13th – 30th October 2022


It’s been more than a decade since Exmoor National Park was crowned Europe’s first International Dark Sky Reserve. The annual Dark Skies festival encourages visitors from near and afar to marvel at the wonderful night sky, with over 50 organised events for everyone to enjoy. Events are due to take place at venues all over the national park – although the programme has not yet been released, it is likely to include guided night walks, stargazing guides, adventures in the dark, retreats under the stars, adventures by boat, stargazing suppers, dusk safaris, astronomy talks, and more.
